Authorities have arrested two momo stall owners after a woman died from consuming their momo. Authorities have filed a case of culpable homicide that does not qualify as murder.
After consuming momo from a street vendor in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills neighborhood, a 33-year-old woman dies. Additionally, twenty other people also contracted food poisoning, according to authorities.
On Friday, Reshma Begum and her daughters, ages 12 and 14, ate momos from a Khairatabad street seller. Shortly thereafter, they soon began experiencing vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Consequently, her girls are receiving therapy after her death on Sunday morning. Notably, the daughters of Reshma Begum, who was a single mother, survived her.
Furthermore, Sub-inspector Ram Babu of the Banjara Hills Police Station told news agency PTI that they received a report yesterday. Specifically, fifteen people had fallen ill with food poisoning, and Reshma Begum, a 33-year-old woman, had died after consuming momos from a single vendor at various locations. As a result, we are looking into the incident and have filed a lawsuit.
According to an investigation, the vendor prepared food in unsanitary conditions and operated without a food safety permit. The examination also revealed that they stored the momo dough in the refrigerator without any packaging. Consequently, the food vendor’s samples have been forwarded to a lab for examination.
The police found the street vendor. The food safety department of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was also notified. Reshma Begum’s family filed a police complaint, prompting this action. A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been filed. Two stall owners have been placed under arrest.
