Locals are against the New Road’s expanded walkway.

An objection against the ongoing footpath expansion has taken place in the New Road neighborhood of Kathmandu. Moreover, the demonstration has a big scope. As a result, a sizable detachment of Nepal Police and local police is handling the situation.
Earlier this week, the High Court granted permission for the Kathmandu Metropolitan City to move forward with the project of expanding the pathway. Specifically, that was Wednesday when they got to work on it.
Initially, the metropolitan city had already initiated the expansion project, which involved rupturing the tarmac of the road. However, the Road Division Office intervened, taking possession of materials and forcing the city to fix the damaged asphalt.
In response to this situation, the metropolitan city responded to the Road Division Office’s involvement by filing a formal lawsuit with the Patan High Court. Subsequently, following its review of the petition, the High Court rendered an interim decision. Urban highway management is the purview of municipal governments, according to the ruling of the High Court. Consequently, the court mandated that the expansion of the New Road walkway continue.
Dhruva Raj Nanda and Prakash Kharel, the combined bench of judges of the Patan High Court, rendered a verdict. The Road Division Office requested that the Kathmandu Metropolitan City halt construction of the expanded pathway. They chose not to carry out this request, though. Having received this command, the metropolis resumed its efforts to expand.
The KMC was asked to stop building the extended pathway by the Road Division Office.
The Road Division Office requested that the Kathmandu Metropolitan City halt the construction of the expanded pathway. They declined to carry out this request, nevertheless.
