A Mumbai bank has sealed off a portion of actor Rajpal Yadav’s land in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, due to non-payment of a debt. The bank official made this announcement on Wednesday. The actor obtained a loan from the Central Bank of India’s Mumbai branch. He mortgaged property in his hometown for the loan, as stated by Manish Verma, the manager of the bank’s Shahjahanpur office.

The Mumbai-born actor declined to comment when PTI approached him about the situation. Furthermore, people close to the actor have shared that Yadav established Navrang Godavari Entertainment Limited. The production company registered in 2005 using the names of his parents. Subsequently, he then obtained a ₹5 crore loan from the Central Bank of India’s Mumbai office in the Bandra Kurla Complex.

Moreover, they claimed he owed the bank ₹11 crore at the time the property was sealed. Specifically, they stated that on August 8, a Mumbai bank staff shut up a portion of the property that was close to the Dak bungalow.

Additionally, locals claim that the bank employees were in a rush to close the premises. In their haste, they even neglected to turn off the electricity inside the home. Consequently, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena stated that the bank had not requested assistance from the local police. Therefore, he was unaware of the sealing that had taken place.

The actor is from Shahjahanpur district

The award-winning actor is from Kunda village in the Shahjahanpur district. Furthermore, he makes a point of visiting the area at least once a year, according to Jarif Malik, his theatre mentor from his early days. Additionally, Yadav received his early schooling at Banda town before relocating to Shahjahanpur to complete his studies. Moreover, theatre piqued his interest during his time in Shahjahanpur, according to Malik.

Subsequently, he did theatre in Shahjahanpur from 1987 to 1992. After that, he went to Bharatendu Natya Akademi in Lucknow; then, he landed at the National School of Drama in Delhi, Malik added.

“Furthermore, the jail superintendent and the staff gave me two certificates instead of one when I was leaving from there (the jail),” he remarked of his three months there, during which, notably, he also led workshops for other prisoners. “Moreover, this place is very historic, and in my whole life, I have not seen someone like you,” the jail superintendent said to me. “You inspired us.” In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rajpal Yadav stated, “Initially, we thought we would hear your complaints every day, but in these three months, you have, surprisingly, made the walls alive.”He was sentenced to three months in prison. Unfortunately, he didn’t make repayments on his Rs 5 crore loan from the Bank.
