According to the 2024 Hurun India Rich List, Mumbai, the financial hub of India, has more billionaires than Beijing, the capital of China, making it the “billionaire capital of Asia.” Mumbai added 58 billionaires to its list of riches, making it number 386. “Home to 25% of the list, Mumbai is not only the preferred city for Hurun India Rich Listers, followed by New Delhi and Hyderabad, but it has also surpassed Beijing as the capital of billionaires in Asia,” the Hurun list stated.

Mumbai is the most popular city, followed by Delhi, which now has 217 entries on the wealthy list after adding 18 new billionaires. Hyderabad moved up to third place in terms of the number of affluent citizens, surpassing Bengaluru for the first time. With the addition of 17 new billionaires, Hyderabad now has 104 billionaires overall. Bengaluru comes in fourth place with 100 affluent people.
Chennai (82), Kolkata (69), Ahmedabad (67), Pune (53), Surat (28), and Gurugram (23), are the other cities in the top 10.
