An explosive device hidden in an electric scooter detonated near an apartment block in southeastern Moscow, resulting in the deaths of Igor Kirillov and his aide.
Ukraine claimed responsibility for the Tuesday strike in Moscow that murdered Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia’s chemical weapons section, according to AFP. Since the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine, this is the most well-known assassination of a Russian military official.
Russian and Ukrainian officials said that an explosive device hidden in an electric scooter went off near an apartment block in southeastern Moscow, killing Kirillov and his aide.
The assault happened in a Moscow neighborhood a day after President Vladimir Putin celebrated Russian military victories in Ukraine. It is almost the third year of the Kremlin’s military war against its pro-Western neighbor.
