Arrest warrants have been issued for Yoav Gallant and Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Reuters, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants on Thursday for suspected war crimes and crimes against humanity against Hamas leader Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, former defense minister Yoav Gallant, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

ICC prosecutor Karim Khan announced on May 20 that he was requesting arrest warrants for alleged crimes related to Israel’s military action in Gaza against Netanyahu. On October 7, Hamas attacked Israel, adding to the list of investigations.

In its unanimous decision to issue warrants, the three-judge panel wrote, “The Chamber considered that there are reasonable grounds to believe that both individuals intentionally and knowingly deprived the civilian population in Gaza of objects indispensable to their survival, including food, water, medicine, and medical supplies, as well as fuel and electricity,” according to AP.

According to the ICC, Israel did not have to acknowledge the court’s jurisdiction.

According to the ICC, Israel has denied war crimes in Gaza and rejected the ICC’s authority by accepting Israel. Hamas has neither acknowledged nor refuted its allegations that it killed Al-Masri, also known as Mohammed Deif, in an airstrike.

The court does not have Israel as a member state. According to rights organizations, the nation has had difficulty conducting its investigations.

The war between Israel and Hamas

Since October 7 of last year, the battle in Gaza has claimed the lives of at least 44,056 individuals. According to the health ministry of the Hamas dictatorship, this number was reported.

According to the ministry, 71 people have died in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours. 104,268 individuals have been injured.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas invaded southern Israel, killing some 1,200 people—mostly civilians—and kidnapping another 250. This marked the start of the war.

Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip have left dozens dead. The civil defense service and a hospital director told AFP on Thursday that dozens are missing.
