The Kapoor & Sons actor disclosed in his memoirs Khullam Khulla that he had a connection to his management through someone on the awards committee. “I was all of 20–21 years old,” he recounted. After ‘Bobby,’ I was suddenly a great star. I really was a brat and was flying back then. I was approached by someone who stated, “We can win this award.” Are you interested in having it? I responded, “Sure.” According to the source, it will cost Rs 30,000. That was enormous money back then. Who knows, maybe the money never would have made it to the organizers.” I’m not sure if the boys received the money I just gave to the man.
The actor who plays Prem Rog questions if he could have won without the funding. Or perhaps, even without the money, he did win. Nevertheless, he regrets going the bribery route. He stated, “It was my age, I had no vision, nothing was correct for me then,” in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai. As the son of a wealthy man, I felt much wealthier as an actor.
