Recently, Ranbir Kapoor disclosed the details of his difficult connection with his late father, Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir disclosed that, even with their affluent upbringing, he and his father were never close in an interview with Nikhil Kamath on his YouTube channel.
He talked about his early years, remembering how he used to sit on their bungalow’s stairs and watch his parents argue. “My parents had a lot of fights,” he stated. I grew up hearing people fight on the staircases since we lived in a cottage. I felt anxious and afraid all the time.
A fear of his father was voiced by Ranbir.
Ranbir expressed his fear of his father, saying he had never seen the color in his eyes. He also revealed that Rishi Kapoor had taken away his car when he came back to India, only to keep him grounded.
“I think my father was a short-tempered man, but he was a good man,” the man stated. Food, drink, his work, and his family were all things that he appreciated. He was a very honest individual. He was able to voice his opinions.
Ranbir claimed that he was always afraid of his father’s erratic behavior. The ‘Animal’ star said, “He never yelled at us, never raised his hand at us, but just because his temperament was so volatile around us that it always scared me.”
He spoke about how, after Rishi’s cancer diagnosis, his parents were able to put their disputes behind them and he witnessed his mother’s compassionate care for his father.
Ranbir thinks that the men of his father’s generation never publicly showed their affection because they were afraid of being vulnerable.
“I believe that males in that generation are afraid of being vulnerable. He never even told me how much he loved me. My hand could never be held by him. He hugged me, but it was more of a pat than anything. I don’t know if I am blaming his generation or something else. He seemed so far away. Although there was a gap, I knew he loved and cared for me deeply,” Ranbir remarked.
Ranbir talked how Alia changed his life
During the same interview, Ranbir also discussed how Alia transformed his life. “She changed more for me than I changed for her,” he remarked. I acknowledge that, but I should take action and make some changes.”
The ‘Brahmastra’ actor remarked, “Watching films together, laughing, chatting…that’s what romance is,” about Alia being his best friend.
“I consider myself fortunate to have married the closest friend I have ever had. We genuinely get along and can laugh, talk, and bit*h like best friends. That was incredibly fortunate for me. Alia is a truly amazing person. She has a vibrant personality. She is eleven years my junior. It’s hilarious,” he continued.
